POC (Point of Contact) is a web-based interface for people in MCI to find out the Financial Services Point of Contact for any given account, Sales City code, or by NASP id. The site uses HTML and Java Beans as the front-end GUI tools. The web server used in Apache. Jbuilder and jConnect are used to develop the GUI and database connectivity respectively. My role involves designing the GUI using Jbuilder, Java, and HTML. Also I was involved in writing the various SQL statements to retrieve the data for the screens. | |||

AR2000 is a Credit and Collections system that is designed to help the collectors, collect more efficiently from the business customers. The architecture is a 3-tier system. Various feeds from the mainframe come to the mid-range daily, and the data is refreshed/updated daily through these feeds. On the mid-range (UNIX) side various schedulers and a Socket Server accepts the jobs from the front-end that are passed via ODBC/Sybase Open Client and Windows Sockets/UNIX sockets TCP/IP connections. The schedulers process the jobs as batch processes and update the database on the job completion. The user at front-end polls the database to check for the status of jobs. The front-end is designed using Delphi 3.0 and the database connections and classes are written in Visual C++. My role involves designing, coding, and debugging the various schedulers, socket server, and various weekly and daily batch programs at the mid-range. All of these programs are written in Dec C++ and uses Sybase open Client library and Sockets. | |||

IIMS (Integrated Information Management System) was developed for a large Indian Carpet export house to assist the management in analyzing the various factors regarding costing, budgeting and decision-making. The system stores information on various aspects of business viz. Raw materials, chemicals and dyes, financial transactions, inventory management, payroll and costing and budgeting. The system provides a user-friendly interface as a community not very familiar with computers used it. My role involved client interaction and developing function specification in addition to coding, debugging and implementing the project. |
Other Practical Experience
As a part of my Masters degree, I worked full time with Tata Consultancy Services, New Delhi, India, for a period of six months. I worked on a Management Planning and Analysis Support System for a Steel plant. The total duration of project was over 20 man-years and the software was developed in ORACLE 6.0. I was involved in coding and testing of about 40 user reports. All the reports were written in Pro*C.
